Health-care is one of the fastest growing and largest service sectors in India. Indian health care market is currently estimated to be $35 billions and is expected to cross $100 billion by 2015. It is growing at a rate of 12 percent per Annam.
Changing demographics, rising income levels, lifestyles demand better health care delivery. It is estimated that each additional bed has the potential to create 5 direct jobs and 20 indirect jobs. There should be one bed for every 300 people according to WHO, but in India we have one bed for every 1250 people. This shows us the potential for growth in health services.
As health care organizations are today competing to provide first class health care services, the demand for professional hospital managers is rising tremendously. It is now considered essential to have a professional approach towards the management of health care organization with an appreciation of the specific needs and requirements of the industry.
The growing need of professionalism would only increase the importance of hospital management degree and courses. And given the growing sector there is a shortage of health care management professionals and hence the health care and hospital management verticals are expected to provide promising career.
